Dr. Marcus Specht:

Since January 2004 I am participtating the ProLearn Network of Excellence and coordinating the workpackage on Personalized Adaptive Learning. PROLEARN aims at the application of personalization technologies in the e-learning industry and professional training during the first year of the project different business cases and applications scenarios have been analyzed and the requirements for the different stakeholders have been described. Furthermore the current state of art for the design of adaptive user interfaces and the in the area of learning modeling have been analyzed. The workpackage on personalization and focus on key issues of next generation professional learning support like:

  • Pedagogical models & learning theories for corporate e–Learning
  • Standardized learning solutions & personalization
  • Adaptive learning & assessment in open environments
  • New learner modeling approaches
  • New user interfaces for data (metadata) and relationship visualization
  • Privacy & data protection
  • Evaluation of personalization & adaptation methods
Since June 2002 I am the coordinator of the RAFT project on mobile learning and field trip support. The RAFT project (http://www.raft-project.net) is an international consortium of partners from the UK, Slovakia, Canada, and Germany aiming at the support of field trips with electronic tools and mobile computing devices.
