Dr. rer. nat. Ralf Klamma has a diploma degree (1995) and a doctoral degree (2000) both in computer science from the technical university of Aachen (RWTH Aachen) for works on process centered requirements engineering environments resp. on repositories for organizational memory systems.
He worked in several international and national projects, mostly in an interdisciplinary work setting in areas like requirements engineering, quality management, improvement management, and knowledge management. Currently, Ralf Klamma leads the research group “knowledge management” at the information systems chair, RWTH Aachen and is project leader in the collaborative research center “Media and Cultural Communication”.
His research covers information systems theory, the application of information systems in engineering, cultural sciences, and virtual communities, organizational memory systems, and new product development.

- In 2002, he chaired the international symposium "Designing Digital Media" together with Matthias Jarke and Volker Wulf. He was assistant to the editors-in-chief of the journal “Information Systems”.
- In summer term 2004 he took over a stand-in professorship for media informatics at the TU Chemnitz, faculty of computer science and in winter term 2004/05 a stand-in professorship for dialog-oriented systems at the University of Passau, faculty of mathematics and computer science. He is editor-in-chief of the Central European Information Server SunSITE CEUR.
He serves as the study advisor for the master programme in Software Systems Engineering. He has published in various research journals and conference proceedings.
