SUMMARY:First European Conference on Technology Enhanced Learning
DESCRIPTION:With the shift towards the knowledge society\, changing wo
rking conditions and the continuous evolution of information and com
munication technologies\, peoples' knowledge and skills need continuou
s development. \n\nTechnology-enhanced learning is one of the strategi
c objectives of the EU/IST Work Programme\, with the goal of "improvin
g the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of learning\, for individuals
and organizations\, independent of time\, place and pace." \n\nInnovat
ive infrastructuctures\, methods and approaches are needed to reach th
is goal\, and will facilitate transfer and sharing of knowledge betwee
n individuals and in organisations. For e-learning\, as in e-commerce
and e-business\, systemic changes wrought by emerging technologies are
also changing the relationships between consumption and production -
in this case of knowledge - as what many call 'Web 2.0' becomes more i
nteractive and user-generated content becomes more widespread.\n\nThe
First European Conference on Technology Enhanced Learning provides a u
nique forum for all research related to technology-enhanced learning\,
as well as its interactions with knowledge management\, business proc
esses and work environments. It will provide a competitive yet broad e
nough forum for technology enhanced learning research in Europe and wo
rld-wide through specialized workshops and the main conference. The EC
-TEL 2006 will provide unique networking possibilities for participati
ng researchers throughout the week and include project meetings and di
scussions for EU/IST projects funded within the 6th framework program
under the action line of "Technology- Enhanced Learning and Access to
Cultural Heritage".\n\nWe welcome submissions describing innovative re
search on all relevant issues\, focusing on aspects from computer scie
nce\, business and/or education\, as well as experience reports and ca
se studies describing innovative applications of new learning environm
 ents and approaches.
