Research Associate Social Networking Between Wireless Devices School of Computer Science, Cardiff University UK

A Research Associate position is available to conduct research into the development of new techniques to enable more flexible mobile ad-hoc networks for information provision in situated environments. The work will form part of an international European research project funded by the Future Emerging Technologies program for high adventure research.

The post involves exploring new approaches for enhanced adaptability and flexibility based on social networks. These approaches will be socially inspired and human-centric, and will form the basis for new and intelligent techniques that can be embedded in devices for information sharing between peers. This will be investigated with reference to spatial-temporal information. You will be required to:

Contribute to the development of socially-inspired and intelligent techniques for information provision using peer-to-peer interactions between devices in a mobile ad-hoc setting.

Test the proposed methodologies by implementing suitable simulations.

Determine suitable test scenarios for the approaches, and provide empirical evidence for their effectiveness.

Analyse the results of empirical experimentation and produce recommendations.

Collaborate with and provide information for project partners at other academic institutions.

Write and edit regular progress reports and deliverables.

Present the research at project meetings.

Write and submit academic articles for conferences and journal publication.

The post is fixed-term for 34 months.
