PALADIN
PALADIN (PAttern LAnguage for DIsturbances in digital social Networks) is an application which enables the automatic detection of different kinds of disturbances within digital social networks. PALADIN was developed by Dimitar Denev in the context of his master's thesis.
Here, PALADIN is used to detect common disturbances like trolls, spammers etc. in the ProLearn Measure mailing lists. The mailing lists and their disturbances can be visualized by an applet that shows the communication structure between the members of the different mailing lists. All disturbances are defined as patterns using some pattern language. Here you can find out more about the different disturbances and their underlying patterns.
You can also define your own patterns and edit existing ones. But before, you should become familiar with the pattern language and with the actors that play a role in the context of a mailing list (e.g. member, message, thread, ...). In order to find out whether a specific mailing list fulfills a pattern you defined on your own, i.e. contains the corresponding disturbance, open the member network, choose your pattern and the mailing list you want to analyze and press "Compute pattern". Depending on the size of the selected mailing list, this may take some time.
